Water is Life Ethiopia
One well, One village, One life at a time.
February 13, 2023
Dear Josh,
I recently returned from a trip to Ethiopia where I revisited some of the water projects funded by RAW Giving. Even though we have moved the work over to Senai Global, it still moves me to see the amazing transformation of communities that now have access to clean drinking water, particularly among women and girls. I want to reiterate my thanks to you for your generosity that made such a difference for so many Ethiopians. Here is a brief reminder of how important your partnership with us has been.
From 2014 to 2020, Water is Life International received $1,014,557 from you to work throughout Ethiopia. In that span of time, we transitioned from installing simple hand pumps that serve only 500 people to using solar powered systems that serve more than 10,000 people from one well and eliminated the need for hand pumping. You funded five of these solar systems that continue serving more than 70,000 people year after year.
The Sisters of Charity, affiliated with Mother Teresa, requested your help for eight of their Centers for the Destitute and Dying. You funded the water systems at Addis Ababa, Gambella, Diredawa, Semera, Awassa, Debre Markos, Bale and Mekele. Three of those systems were complex reverse osmosis water treatment plants. I am happy to report that all of the systems are still functioning well.
I recall your visits to Ethiopia in 2016 and 2018 and appreciate the time you took to see the fruit of your contributions in person. Mr. Gerbe of Rogicha sends his personal thanks for your help in his community.
Warm regards,
David Harding Harr
